Four Hands Piano Concert: September and October 2021
with Graham Yates

I performed two four hands piano concerts with Graham Yates in September and October 2021.

On the first concert, we played my arrangement of On The Road Again, selections from Petrushka by Igor Stravinsky, and Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin. You can watch the first concert here.

On the second concert, we performed an arrangement of the overture from Candide by Leonard Bernstein, Ravel's Sonatine (a piano solo piece I played), the Mother Goose Suite also written by Ravel, and Graham's arrangement of Prokofiev's Piano Sonata No. 7 movement 3, Precipitato. You can watch the second concert here.

Canadian pianist, teacher and composer Graham Yates has lived in Texas since 2014 where he owns North Austin Piano Studio.

After completing a Bachelour of Arts in Music and a Master of Music in Piano Performance, he established himself near Vancouver for many years, becoming Principal of the Chilliwack Academy of Music. He is currently a master clinician for the Houston Area Suzuki Piano Teachers Association, a member of the Canadian Music Festivals Adjudicators Association, and a member of the College of Examiners for the Royal Conservatory of Music. In 2020, he was nominated for the B. Iden Payne award for Outstanding Music Director for his role with One Ounce Opera.

His song cycles have been performed by Local Opera Local Artists and by Austin Chamber Music Center. His chamber opera, The Measure of Love, was premiered in 2019 in Houston, and his compositions for solo piano and chamber ensemble are sold internationally.
