For information about her work, visit www.azarova.com. Tibbetts: How long have you composed, and what made you decide to become a composer? Azarova: As long as I remember I wanted to compose music and did--I felt and feel it is my mission in life. I graduated the conservatory as a composer in 2000. Tibbetts: What inspires you? Azarova: Most things: books, works of art, music I hear, people I meet, dreams. Tibbetts: Of all you have done, what do you consider your best work, and why? Azarova: I cannot choose one piece. Tibbetts: What is your 'typical day' like? Azarova: I get up at 6am, have a light breakfast, after I have a coffee while I read my emails. At 7 I can start work--I have a large dining table where I can spread out my current composition. During the day I might take a walk to clear my head. I do not work after 6pm. Tibbetts: Do you have any words of wisdom to offer to aspiring composers and musicians? Azarova: Believe in your own star.
