It was one of my first pieces for a large ensemble. Though I wrote a bit of stuff for band in high school, I was still learning how to do that sort of thing. My goal was to write something clean and simple, something in which I had a handle on everything and knew what I was trying to do. I wrote a little melody and harmonized it, then arranged it for as lean a large ensemble as you could get. You could play this in an orchestra, and in this live recording it was played through by the University of New Hampshire wind ensemble, but there are really only a few parts going on at a time.
