The themes of the jam were "warmth" and the limitation "your score serves a purpose". Participants were encouraged to interpret those prompts however they wanted. Participants might work independently or in teams. The event duration usually ranges from 24 to 72 hours. Participants are generally programmers, game designers, artists, writers, and others in game development-related fields. Some game jams are contests, others are not. Mini Jam is a game jam for independent game developers which is hosted every other week on itch.io.
