It was an ambitious collaboration with my father, Dwight Tibbetts. Dwight is a trumpet player and the founder of two brass quintets, the Downeast Brass and the Coastal Brass. Before he retired, he taught middle school band in the area of Augusta, Maine. Dad and I have worked together in the past on arrangements of You Are My Sunshine; O Waly, Waly; and Wade In The Water. I've also dedicated some of my original work to him, such as my band piece, To My Father As A Young Man.
